We're introducing changes to our memberships to offer greater flexibility. These changes will apply to new memberships and renewals from 1st December 2023. These changes will come into effect for Monthly memberships from 1st January 2024. Please take a moment to get familiar with our membership types, wristband system for selected periods and tariff prices for pay as you go members and guests. To provide clarity, we have outlined the significance of each feature and how it corresponds to your membership type.

Members get unlimited access, guests pay as they go on each visit

Platinum Yearly Membership
Membership cost £500 per year

Membership Information
Each membership purchased is valid for a period of 12 months, starting from the date of purchase. It's essential to ensure that all membership payments are up to date to enjoy uninterrupted access, in accordance with club rules.
All members are expected to be responsible for the supervision of their guests while on our premises. Guests can only use our facilities when accompanied by a member. When visiting members are entitled to use our swimming pools, his and saunas and gym, however, guests are unable to use our gym facilities during their visit.
Please note that the OAP discount applies exclusively to the Platinum Yearly Membership and is reserved for individuals aged 60 and above.
In adherence to health and safety regulations, non-members are not permitted to use the gym facilities. Additionally, for the safety of all gym users, completion of an induction is advised.
Please note, that we reserve the right to close our facilities as required.

These memberships offer you flexibility in accessing our outstanding facilities. By becoming a member for a fixed fee, you gain access to our fabulous amenities, and you'll only pay when you use them with our pay as you go tariff.

Wristband System
Breakdown of our Wristband System
Applicable during selected periods
During selected periods including school holidays, we will introduce a wristband system to manage the usage of our facilities during the high-demand period. This approach aims to ensure that everyone has a fair opportunity to access and enjoy our amenities.
Monthly and Yearly Members do not need to pay for the all-day charge but still require a wristband for their chosen session. Their guests are chargeable.
2 Hour sessions
Our two-hour sessions grant you access to our facilities for up to two hours. We advise members and their guests to arrive close to the hour to get maximum time in the pool, as our 2-hour sessions will operate on the hour every hour.
A member of our leisure team will oversee your usage to ensure that you do not exceed your allotted session time.

All Day Sessions
Our all-day sessions provide you with access to our leisure facilities during our opening hours and offer additional perks during your visit, including complimentary towels and 15% discount on the Leisure Club Lunch Menu throughout your visit.

Important Information
All members must comply with the current Health & Safety Regulations within the club
- The Health & Leisure Club is an adult club (i.e. 18 and over membership only)
- Members are responsible for the supervision of all their guests
- Children are welcome in the Health & Leisure Club, but all those aged under 16 must be accompanied by a competent adult swimmer in the pool at all times, (one adult per two children maximum).
- All residents may sign in up to 3 people to use the swimming pools, of which a maximum of 2 can be under 16 years old. Under 2’s count as one of your guests.
- Only 1 child under the age of 4 years to be directly supervised by a competent adult swimmer in the pool.
- Up to a maximum of 2 children under the age of 16 years to be accompanied by a competent adult swimmer
- in the pool.
- Children aged 8 and over must change in their own sex changing rooms (please see a member of Leisure Club
- Staff for an alternative solution).
- Please note that our indoor and outdoor pools are NOT lifeguarded. For this reason, we cannot allow any of the following; diving, jumping, bombing, running, acrobatics, snorkels, flippers, balls, throwing objects around, inflatable toys and lilos etc.
- Never swim after a heavy meal or after consuming alcohol.
- Be especially careful if you have a medical condition such as epilepsy, asthma, diabetes or heart problems and
- inform a member of the Leisure Club Staff.
- If you see someone in trouble, please alert the Leisure Club Staff/Sound the alarm.
- In accordance with the Protection Protection of Children Act we do not allow use of any photographic equipment in any part of the Leisure Club.
- The gym is only to be used by those aged 18 years and over
- Train within your limits

Our changing rooms offer modern styling with heated seats, adjustable mirrors, hairdryers, monsoon showers and a sauna.
Changing Facility Rules:
- Any valuables left unattended are done so at your own risk and are not the responsibility of The Barnstaple
- Hotel.
- Locker keys are not to be kept after your use of the Leisure Facilities, they are to stay on the premises at all times.
- Lockers are not to be used to keep personal belongings overnight.
The following are not permitted:
- Any activities which cause nuisance or annoyance to others using the facilities.
- Any actions which affect the safety of members, residents and children.
- The consumption of alcohol by those under 18 years of age.
- Dogs are not permitted on any part of the premises.
- Only food and drink purchased on the premises can be consumed in the Leisure Club areas.
- The responsibility for safe conduct resides with the individual. The hotel and leisure club will not accept responsibility with respect to the death and injury sustained by members or their children or other invitees, or any loss or damage to their property.
- Any accidents or injuries must be reported to a member of staff immediately.
- Must only wear sportswear in the leisure complex and not in the main hotel.
- Residents may sign in up to 3 people to the Leisure Club, of which a maximum of 2 can be under 16 years old.
- Any pre-existing medical conditions which may affect your visit must be notified to a member of staff on arrival.
