Indoor Swimming Pool
Monday – Saturday: 7am – 9pm
Sunday: 7am – 8.30pm
The heated indoor pool is spacious and attractive. Surrounded by comfortable sun loungers where you can relax in style, the indoor pool is open every day so you can enjoy a refreshing dip whenever suits you.
Outdoor Swimming Pool
Open daily, year-round
Heated (May–September)
The pool is heated to a constant 31 degrees Celsius, so it is always delightful, even on cooler days. Surrounded by sun loungers and adjoining manicured lawns, the outdoor pool area is perfect for sunbathing in summer.
Cold Water Swimming
Open daily, year-round
Cold Water Swimming (October–April)
Available from October to April, our unheated outdoor pool provides the perfect setting for those seeking the physical and mental health benefits of cold water therapy.

Fitness Studio
Our purpose-built, sleek new fitness studio is designed to help you elevate your workouts in a motivating and modern space. When it's not being used for fitness classes, the studio is available for members to use.
His & Her Saunas
Discover a spot to unwind, and embrace the dry heat from our His and Her saunas as your body settles into a sensation of relaxation. Our saunas are located within our changing room facilities.
Changing Facilities
Our changing rooms offer modern styling with heated seats, adjustable mirrors, hairdryers, monsoon showers and a sauna.
Gym Rules:
- The gym is only to be used by those aged 18 years and over
- Train within your limits
- Read the rules and contraindications posters displayed
Pool Rules:
- All residents may sign in up to 3 people to use the swimming pools, of which a maximum of 2 can be under 16 years old. Under 2’s count as one of your guests.
- Only 1 child under the age of 4 years to be directly supervised by a competent adult swimmer in the pool.
- Up to a maximum of 2 children under the age of 16 years to be accompanied by a competent adult swimmer
- in the pool.
- Children aged 8 and over must change in their own sex changing rooms (please see a member of Leisure Club
- Staff for an alternative solution).
- Please note that our indoor and outdoor pools are NOT lifeguarded. For this reason, we cannot allow any of the following; diving, jumping, bombing, running, acrobatics, snorkels, flippers, balls, throwing objects around, inflatable toys and lilos etc.
- Never swim after a heavy meal or after consuming alcohol.
- Be especially careful if you have a medical condition such as epilepsy, asthma, diabetes or heart problems and
- inform a member of the Leisure Club Staff.
- If you see someone in trouble, please alert the Leisure Club Staff/Sound the alarm.
- In accordance with the Protection Protection of Children Act we do not allow use of any photographic equipment in any part of the Leisure Club.

Please note, we advise you to bring along your own towel during your visit to the Leisure Club. Should you wish to hire a towel from us, these can be rented for £1 per towel.
Sauna Rules:
- Not to be used by persons under the age of 16 years
- Read the rules and contraindications poster displayed as saunas are not suitable for everyone
- Avoid contact with the stove
- Do not stay in the sauna cabin longer than you feel comfortable
- It is safer not to use the sauna alone

Changing Facility Rules:
- Any valuables left unattended are done so at your own risk and are not the responsibility of The Barnstaple
- Hotel.
- Locker keys are not to be kept after your use of the Leisure Facilities, they are to stay on the premises at all times.
- Lockers are not to be used to keep personal belongings overnight.
The following are not permitted:
- Any activities which cause nuisance or annoyance to others using the facilities.
- Any actions which affect the safety of members, residents and children.
- The consumption of alcohol by those under 18 years of age.
- Dogs are not permitted on any part of the premises.
- Only food and drink purchased on the premises can be consumed in the Barnstaple Health & Leisure areas.
- The responsibility for safe conduct resides with the individual. The hotel and leisure club will not accept responsibility with respect to the death and injury sustained by members or their children or other invitees, or any loss or damage to their property.
- Any accidents or injuries must be reported to a member of staff immediately.
- Must only wear sportswear in the leisure complex and not in the main hotel.
- Residents may sign in up to 3 people to the Leisure Club, of which a maximum of 2 can be under 16 years old.
- Any pre-existing medical conditions which may affect your visit must be notified to a member of staff on arrival.
