As a part of Brend Hotels, The Barnstaple Hotel is connected to many other sister hotels throughout the South West of England. A region that's world famous for many things including beautiful golden beaches, surfing competitions, plenty of natural beauty and nature and for being a top quality holiday destination.
Being based in the central town of Barnstaple, we consider ourselves very lucky to be within easy access of the North Devon coastline and everything that includes; the jagged cliff faces, the rolling hills that overlook the sea and of course the popular beaches such as Woolacombe, Saunton, Croyde and Westward Ho! to name a few.
It's therefore important to us that we share this news article from Brend Hotels about North Devon beach cleans in 2018.
In it they've taken a look at how the region is a designated Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty and also part of a Biosphere Reserve, meaning it must be protected.
With many beach cleans happening regularly in North Devon, now is a great time to get involved if you've never done so before. There are several penciled in for the rest of the year at Saunton and Westward Ho! that we know of. Plus we're sure more will be added for our guests to get involved with.
More importantly, thanks to a wonderful charity called Surfers Against Sewage, a Big Spring Clean of our beaches will be taking place in April to help protect the sands. This is a nationwide, weeklong event that everyone should get involved with.
We therefore invite all our guest and friends to do a bit to help however you can. If we all did a two minute beach clean everytime we visited the beach we can make North Devon a leading example for cleaning up plastic and rubbish from our shores.
